Dunkan Talks “La Mia Parola,” Collaboration, and Sanremo’s Creative Energy in New Radio IULM Interview

As Sanremo 2025 continues to shape the cultural conversation across Italy, singer, songwriter, and producer Dunkan (Edoardo Medici) joined Radio IULM for an in-depth interview during the third broadcast of GPS – Guida per Sanremo. The conversation offered a rare look behind the creative process of “La Mia Parola”—the street-gospel hybrid written for Shablo and performed onstage by Guè, Tormento, and Joshua.
The segment, hosted by Alessandro Sangalli and Penelope Bosio, arrived in the midst of a vibrant Sanremo week marked by live reporting, interviews from the festival grounds, and daily analysis of performances, trends, and audience reactions. Dunkan’s appearance stood out for both its sincerity and its insight into the collaborative ecosystem behind the record.
Inside the Writing of “La Mia Parola”
Dunkan explained that his contribution to “La Mia Parola” came from a deeply personal place—one shared with fellow author Ernesto Conocchia. Together, the two shaped the emotional core of the hook, drawing on lived experiences marked by resilience, transition, and the pursuit of forward momentum.
“We tried to bring a shared life story into the chorus,” he said. “It’s a street song—a sense of redemption, a reminder to believe in yourself until the end. That message was amplified by the energy the guys brought to such an important stage.”
The record’s layering of gospel, blues references, and urban influences mirrors the diversity of its collaborators: Shablo as the architect, Guè as a veteran and contemporary of the producer, Tormento as a pioneer of Italian R&B and hip-hop, and Joshua as an emerging voice shaping the genre’s new generation.
The Spirit Behind the Collaboration
According to Dunkan, the sessions behind the song were defined by “an atmosphere of unity and celebration.” Rather than a rigid studio environment, the team operated like a collective—artists aligned by purpose, experience, and mutual respect.
That chemistry carried into the final performance at the Teatro Ariston, where the track’s message of perseverance resonated with audiences both inside the venue and across Italian media. The live staging, with its mix of grit and uplift, reinforced the authenticity of the writing.
